Reusable pre-filled bottled water brand Bottle Up will be available in 35 European international airports in WHSmith outlets this spring. This is an expansion on the existing listing in 400 UK transport sites and will be the first time a pre-filled, reusable water bottle has been available to European travellers.
People travelling from airports in The Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Germany and Ireland will now be able to buy pre-filled, plant-based, reusable water bottles in either Beau Blue or Champaign Pink rather than taking a PET plastic bottle or a heavier metal bottle with them. Currently water chillers at airports only have single use plastic bottles on offer, so this will be the first time a sustainable alternative has been made available to travellers.
Andrew Eversden from Bottle Up says: “Our reusable bottles are a great alternative to single-use bottles and cans, and we can’t wait to offer international travellers the chance to choose a more sustainable option on the go and one that they can refill time and time again.”
William Ufland, Trading Controller at WHSmith International says: “We’re delighted to be the first retailer in European airports to offer pre-filled, plant-based reusable water bottles, we’re committed to values of sustainability and supporting brands that share those values.”
Bottle Up has enjoyed a successful 2 year relationship with WHSmith and was named Hero Brand by the retailer in 2021 for being the most sustainable water brand in the category, while driving average basket spend. The brand uses 97% bio-based materials and 3% natural colouring. They are made from sugar cane, which is a renewable resource, meaning they require less water and energy to produce than single-use bottles. They’re carbon negative, recyclable, BPA free and entirely reusable.
